Edit regions and hierarchy
Select
Section titled “Select”Pick Select in the bottom toolbar (shortcut V) and click a region to select it. Drag on empty space to select several at once.
Refine the shape
Section titled “Refine the shape”Turn on Draw region (shortcut R) and click the region you want to edit to select it. It enters an area-edit state: grow it with Add, erase with Subtract, or add and remove with the Free lasso.
Hierarchy
Section titled “Hierarchy”Draw a region entirely inside another and it becomes a child in the hierarchy, like a city inside a kingdom. The structure appears in the Map hierarchy panel on the right, where items can be expanded and collapsed. Right-click an item to rename it, zoom to the region, open its linked document, or delete it.
Regions are allowed to overlap. A hierarchy is only formed when one region fully contains another.
You can also set a parent by hand, by dragging an item onto another in the hierarchy. A parent set that way does not change automatically when the region moves, and can be cleared from the right-click menu.
Separate parts
Section titled “Separate parts”Erasing across a region with Subtract splits it in two. The region does not disappear and does not lose a half: it becomes one region made of several parts. An archipelago, or a mainland and its colony, can be handled as a single region.
Every part belongs to the same region, so there is one name and one linked document. Labels are not repeated on every part: nearby parts are grouped and each group gets one label, while a part far from the rest carries its own. When the region gets small enough to collapse, a single dot is left on the largest part.
